Shots from our '05 road trip to my wife's family's cabin in the Boulder river valley in the Gallatin National Forest area of Montana. Also an excursion into Yellowstone National Park durring the same trip.

Chris Abbey > While wandering back to the car at the rest area on I90 at Chamberlain, SD I noticed this post sticking out of the field. Maybe it was part of a fence once... today it's just sitting there by itself.
Chris Abbey > At the rest area on I90 at Chamberlain, SD this lone tree stands out on the edge of the plateau, it's got an almost sculptural shape to it that I just loved.
Chris Abbey > On the way to the cabin, "Chocolate Drop Mountain" in the vernacular of my wife's family (it's their cabin) framed by a couple of the big beautiful pine trees we went up there to enjoy.
Chris Abbey > On the way to the cabin a stand of Birch and other trees interact with the sunlight to produce some etherial shafts of light.

Chris Abbey > The bridge over the Boulder river, last hurdel to getting to the cabin from the back door of which you can see Contact Mountain, so this is in my mind not only the bridge to the cabin, but the bridge to Mt. Contact, as shown here.

Chris Abbey > Petey, one of the inhabitants of the backyard of the cabin. Here enjoying a sunflower seed left out for him. This generation of Petey (the famiy's generic name for all squirel lie critters) seems far more skitish of people than those that were around when we last vistied the cabin three years ago.
